We want our students to get a comprehensive education. We know that learning takes place not only in the classroom, but also outside of the classroom. That’s why we offer several activities outside of the classroom to stimulate different parts of the brain and provide an enriching, well-rounded experience for our students.
Freedom Prep students have the opportunity to participate in several academic organizations and special interest clubs. Usually reserved for afterschool hours or during specially designated times during the school day, our students participate in and hone their leadership skills in an array of offerings.
Some of our club offerings include: Chess Club, Environmental Club, Knowledge Bowl, Newspaper Club, Yearbook Club, National Honors Society, Poetry Club and Student Government, African Drumming and more.
Freedom Prep offers a number of extracurricular after-school activities for students. These offerings are in addition to the regular full-course offerings that are part of the curriculum. These extra opportunities are earned, encouraged and intended to help students pursue his/her specific interests in a more concentrated environment.
Freedom Prep’s athletic program is dedicated to promoting and encouraging a healthy student body through a variety of different sports and programs. Freedom Prep’s athletic environment is all about striving to be the very best on the field of competition, in the classroom and in life.
See our athletics page for more information on sports we offer at Freedom
Our high school, and sometimes middle school, students are encouraged to show community by volunteering around the city of Memphis. This shows them that the world is bigger than their neighborhood and helping hands make it a better place. High School students are required to volunteer 100 hours before graduating. We work with students to help them find age- and skill-appropriate opportunities to teach them responsibility and care for others.
