The holiday season arrived with warmth and wonder across Freedom Prep, and every campus found its own way to celebrate. From FPA Birmingham welcoming a visit from the Cool Santa to all five Memphis campuses joining in the cheer, the spirit of the season was unmistakable. Spirit weeks brought Polar Express fun, students read together around Christmas trees, and joyful holiday songs filled classrooms, hallways, and auditoriums.
Across our network, campuses created moments that felt both festive and meaningful. Students gathered for cocoa and story time, welcomed special classroom guests, and enjoyed schoolwide programs filled with music and laughter. Teachers and staff gathered to celebrate one another with the gift of food and company. These celebrations reflected who we are at Freedom Prep Academy, a community grounded in togetherness, shared joy, and Ubuntu, the belief that we are better when we support one another.
One special highlight of the season took place at our high school, where students participated in a Winter Arts Showcase. This event marked an exciting milestone, as Theatre Arts was introduced for the first time this fall as an elective. The showcase gave families and staff a chance to see students step onto the stage with confidence, creativity, and pride.
“The Winter Showcase captured the growth and collaboration our students have been building all semester,” shared Theatre Arts teacher Sarenina Childress. “Seeing students take creative risks, support one another, and lead with excellence reflected our core values of excellence and community.” The performance demonstrated how the arts provide students with a powerful space to learn, express themselves, and grow together.
As the 2025 semester comes to a close, the holiday memories bring our FPA family together in meaningful ways. They strengthened connections between students, families, teachers, and staff, and remind us that joy, creativity, and community are essential parts of the Freedom Prep experience.
