Freedom Preparatory Academy is taking an exciting step forward for its middle school community.
Beginning in August 2026, Brownlee Middle School and Flagship Middle School will come together as one unified middle school, located at the Flagship Middle campus on Jonetta. At the same time, Freedom Prep High will operate as a dedicated, standalone high school serving grades 9 through 12.
This thoughtful transition centers on one goal. Creating the strongest possible experience for students during their middle school years.
By bringing students and staff together under one roof, Freedom Prep is building a more connected learning environment where relationships grow deeper and opportunities grow wider. The unified campus will allow for expanded academic offerings, stronger social and emotional supports, and more access to clubs, electives, and enrichment programs. Most importantly, it creates space for every student to feel known, supported, and challenged each day.
“Middle school is such an important season in a child’s growth,” school leaders shared. “We want our students to have the very best of everything we can offer, from academics to extracurriculars to amazing and caring teachers.”
School leaders also recognize that change can come with questions. Supporting families through this transition is a top priority. Teams from both campuses are working closely together to ensure a smooth process that maintains the routines, relationships, and sense of belonging students rely on.
In the coming weeks, families can expect additional updates, including opportunities to visit the campus, meet staff, and attend town hall meetings to learn more and ask questions. Whether you are a current family or exploring Freedom Prep for the first time, this page will serve as your go-to hub for updates, FAQs, and next steps. Check back often as we add new information.
Current families are encouraged to share their thoughts through a short family survey, available in English and Spanish. Feedback will help shape the transition and ensure every student and family feels supported along the way.
For families exploring middle school options, this unification marks an exciting time to join the Freedom Prep community. The new model brings together strong academics, caring educators, and a vibrant student experience designed to help every child grow with confidence.
Enrollment information and support are available for those interested in learning more.
Freedom Prep remains committed to partnering with families and building schools where students thrive, feel cared for, and are prepared for what’s ahead.
