FPA Birmingham Campus

Freedom Preparatory Academy Birmingham is dedicated to transforming the lives of Black and Brown students across the South by preparing them to excel in college and in life. Established in September 2024 in the historic Titusville community of Birmingham, Alabama, Freedom Prep Birmingham provides a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous environment for students in grades K-5. As a tuition-free public charter school, Freedom Prep upholds its core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, and excellence while emphasizing character and social-emotional development. Located at 630 1st Street South, the school site carries a rich legacy of education. For decades, it served as a Catholic high school affiliated with Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception—the oldest Black Catholic congregation in the Birmingham Diocese. After its closure in 2017, the campus is now being revitalized to provide a new generation of students with access to a high-quality K-5 education at Freedom Prep. In its inaugural year, Freedom Prep Birmingham welcomed kindergarten and first-grade students and is excited to continue expanding its impact, ensuring all students receive an excellent education that prepares them for success in college and life.
