Freedom Preparatory Academy is a network of public charter schools serving nearly 2,000 students in Memphis, TN and Birmingham, AL. Our mission is to prepare all students in grades PreK - 12 to excel in college and in life.
About Freedom Prep
Freedom Preparatory Academy began as a bold vision to prove what is possible for students of color and those from historically marginalized communities. Founded in Memphis, TN, in 2009, FPA opened its doors to 90 6th grade students. Today, FPA serves nearly 2,000 students in grades PreK through 12 in Memphis and Birmingham, AL.
Our belief remains unwavering: that every student - regardless of zip code, race, or socioeconomic background - deserves an education that equips them with the skills, confidence, and freedom to lead lives of purpose and excellence. As we expand our impact across the South, Freedom Prep continues to transform educational outcomes and dismantle systemic barriers for the next generation of leaders.
